Meet The Kids...

Much of my free time the last few weeks has been spent getting the garden in.  Tilling, cultivating, sowing, planting, propagating  & weeding:

The strawberry patch has tripled already, next year there will be jam....

No,
we don't love eating tomatoes this much, we do love saving a couple thousand dollars not having to purchase tomatoes for the diner however....

(Cherokee Purples for salads, Better Boys for sandwiches & Beefmasters for fried green tomatoes!)

You know that I love gardening, but with the old man's pinched nerve, almost all the work has been at my hand. I am not complaining at all, I just want you to know why I haven't been around so much.
He is getting better, though there will be more doctors, doctors, doctors in the near future.
Oy...

(The old man, not being sexy, this is the only position that takes the pressure off the nerve.)

We are also growing cantaloupes, butternut squash, green beans, mustard, onions, spinach, pickling cucumbers, beets, bibb lettuce, surgar snap peas & all kinds of herbs.

What a busy queen, huh?

  3. The garden is fantastic.
We're far to lazy and procrastinate-y to do an actual garden,m but this year we did some planters with tomatoes and peppers, and fresh herbs, so I am loving that.
Your's looks like a boatlaod of work, though the payoff must be spectacular!

The only thing that you can do with your green is make my 'maters look redder...

      And.
      That'll be just fine.

  5. Count me in the Jealous Camp. It's too cold here in San Francisco for tomatoes to do well.

Whether anyone likes it or not: I am working, as hard as I can, if not harder....

      I wish I was Canadian.

  7. Love gardening but on my little 10' x 3' balcony, all I can do is grow one plant of cherry tomatoes in a big pot! :(

I'm impressed how much money you can save. Of course, that certainly does not include the work load but who cares about the work when you love what you do.

Now just rub some Voltaren on those sore muscles. It does magic on me! :)

    Hugs
    Jon

@pennee: ??? Color me blonde, but I don't get it: it's much colder here in Canada and we have no problems growing tomatoes (of course, we start them inside!!!)
