Another Trip to the Art Squirrel's Warehouse Today....

Traffic, Traffic, Traffic....

When we arrived at the squirrel's lair she had already gathered herself, thank God, so it only took an hour to load the van.  This time it was almost exclusivly large antique museum grade frames, a very nice load! While we were loading the dolly things were shifting (the place is packed with the grooviest stuff), and as a large framed piece started to fall, we reached out and grabbed it just in time....

Yes,
It was an original Keith Haring, covered in dust....
(One just shakes one's head in dismay...)

Then off to Manhattan!
With our full load, and more,
Traffic, traffic, traffic...

We are home now and everything is better.  We have beer, a dozen baked pork buns from Mai le Wah's and a very special package of imported lace & a lovely card from Princess all the way from Oz....
(More on that later)!

On The Light Side:

We found this on Tumblr.
We found a lamp made by the same people several years ago, not this one, but ours is just as groovy.  We took a photograph of it but it is un-postable (with all the crap we have seen, one would think that we'd have a decent camera).

Wait!
We'll try one more time.....
We think it worked...
Well it's good enough to get the idea.

Anyway, there are no markings on it anywhere, all original when we found it.  We rewired it, and rubbed several coats of laquer on the wood, polished & clear-coated the brass and re-stiched the leather lanyard in the original style.....

Expertly Restored.

We would like to know anything that anyone could tell us about it.
Do you know?
We are quite certain that it is early post-war, American (Eastern or Industrial mid-western).

We love it, but more importantly, the kids are waiting for us to kick-the-bucket so they can get their hands on it!
Won't they be surprised to find out that about thirty people have keys to our place!!!

WHAT FUN!!!

To bad we won't be there...

New Queens Art....

This is a short film created in our neighborhood, Astoria, less than a week ago during the blizzard.
Roger Ebert said that it should win an Academy Award....
Watch it - it is lovely...

fastest three minutes in quite-a-while.

how very irritating .....

so, for a few years now, we've been gardening around this particular jug....:

not even the hint of a single flaw.
sits outside all year....
for years....

check out the stamp...

so you know we, eventually, got around to it....
how
very
irritating....
especially since "la poisson rouge" is right around the corner....
(gender confused?)

well at least the crate & barrel is there too,,,
and Angelica.....

oh! if only the address still existed....
and oh! if it was anything other than an annex for NYU....
.... and for jocks at that.....
(((you know? NYU), the children of the "one percentile" that has been busy raping all of us since the day we were born.), ... and now they even have grandchildren learning to rape us, but in the most pleasant possible way, of course....).
P. Arnault, herself,  would be very, very irritated, of that we assure you....

done being kampy now....
i really would like to know...
....it is always fun to think a jug is always about hard cider! - !   ...but notice the size of the opening....
it is nyc, (very modern), so this is before the civil war, ((this piece of mud is american, (new york, pennsylvania, ohio, west virginia) and not from france). or possibly a sole importer of, perhaps.....

CAPERS???

let me know if you know more than i do, please...

it's a feeling and a scene....

new york city subway riders -

illustration by francis luis mora -
the new york sun -
december 13, 1914 -

great piece -

it still feels this way, quite often -
just change the outfits & update the pullman car...
replace some of the newspapers with an iThis & iThat, and add someone knitting -
infuse a few more pigments into the medium on canvas...

the faces & feeling are the same...
and nyc is nyc

dumpster diving queen...

won't you just look at this empire tutor's desk we found, just sitting out on the sidewalk, waiting for the department of sanitation to cart it away...
shame
made of mahogany and in very good condition...
we were so excited we took these lousy photographs straightaway -

after a good cleaning & waxing we will post decent civilized images for our pleasure

then we went out to re-enforce our ale supply...
and came home with this charming still life in oils dated 1937 (as well as more ale)...

we have consumed far to much ale to study the artists name right now...
be it no matter -
for we are amused

even our trash in queens is exquisite
