A Lousy, Blurry Photo of Something We Saw Today.....
A Bench -
One Palm, Three Feet.
We had to take this on the sly as the owner is extremely neurotic...
So neurotic, in fact, that she keeps it in a storage unit in New Rochelle along with other goodies...
We have been dealing in art for many years now, and have never come to understand the "Art Squirrel".
It is not about money; it is about possession.

Interpreting for Erotic Art....
OK...
We believe we mentioned this earlier,
perhaps not...
This lousy photo is panel #1/16 of a fabulously hand penned, fabulously hand colored and fabulously conceived artwork, (promotional, I'm fairly certain), dated 1947 by a Hungarian artist (give the name later), Twelve by nine, (Imperial), executed on high quality paper of which I have seldom seen (non-acidic in '47?).
Strange.
It's a comic book, a pornographic comic book! From post war (haaaah!), Europe.
The narrative being located at the bottom of each panel, in Magyar, of course, (the language of Hungary).
Anyway,
Janos is translating the text..., literally..
So that we may then translate/interpret it into conversational, American English (literal English in the manner of Popeye speak, and after all, Popeye is American)....
Therefore,
to impose upon our readers:
A Proper English Translation for Panel #1 As Follows:
The ship of our heros had no sooner reached Marseilles, that Popeye and his friend are already beating the streets......
Then a Negro doorman jumps in their way and invites them into the whorehouse.
BUT
"""The client", wants it to have more "Rhythm" ...".
OK, Groovey....
So, Her Highness has to do a wee bit more laundry...
Groovy....
Subsuquently,
For panel #1:
"No sooner in Marseilles, where the ship did dock,
that Popeye & his pal went off exploring, half-cocked...
Beating the streets looking to play,
'Til a big, black doorman jumps in their way...
Well, they heard out his pitch without a dispute...
Then agreed to enter this house; a house of ill-repute...".
What do you think???
Honestly,
I'm looking for honesty...
AND -
WAIT TILL YOU SEE THIS ARTIST'S ILLUSTRATIONS OF BODILY FLUIDS!!!
SO....
Let's fast forward to #13/16,
shall we?
Can't wait to interpret this one....
And this is a clean one!
We did notice this in the original translation though:
"Massages his wilted prostate with his dick".....
We are going to have to make Scotty work, because these need to be documented.....
i.e.
So as they will not only be viewed by the filthy rich....
If I was in a better way, I would have forced them to be scanned.
Color me gone...

it needs be that she is 104 years old now-
i'm going to do some searching & scaning & research now -
i'll give her daughter a call tomorrow -
her designs have helped shape who we have all become -

dumpster diving queen...
won't you just look at this empire tutor's desk we found, just sitting out on the sidewalk, waiting for the department of sanitation to cart it away...
shame
made of mahogany and in very good condition...
we were so excited we took these lousy photographs straightaway -

after a good cleaning & waxing we will post decent civilized images for our pleasure
then we went out to re-enforce our ale supply...
and came home with this charming still life in oils dated 1937 (as well as more ale)...

we have consumed far to much ale to study the artists name right now...
be it no matter -
for we are amused
qw
even our trash in queens is exquisite

another queens queen...
a sunnyside queen...

norma, margo & billie...

...lost, lost & won -
face -

face testifies before nasty senate -

judy holliday....
that's what she gets for wearing red ...
honestly, if you have never seen Born Yesterday, and you think you know movies -
then how could this little girl from queens beat out bette davis, (All About Eve) and gloria swanson, (Sunset Boulevard)
???
find time to watch this -
(especially if you want to understand the Queens english)...
if you admire cyndi lauper(ozone park, queens) or edith bunker(flushing, queens), amongst others..
think of them from the very first time you hear judy's voice-(WHaaaaaaat?) in this clip....
you will understand -
i have spoken-{
there is much justified speculation of the dissipation of nyc accents; i am witness of said dissolution thereof, and am always thrilled when i find a pocket thats' speak remains true unto itself...
(thanks ant grace, ant marie & unkl dom... yeah, eye weel have uh coefee -)
qw
oh
and for those who know...
gladys glover-
Gladys Glover...
GLADYS GLOVER!
and in case i pass, Thom, it is my final request to be buried sitting upp.

a previous art frenzy...
as stated earlier i'm consolidating the design blog with this one, so here is another one of my recent projects -
(fotos suck)...
"DEFENDIN THE FENDA"
"hey wally..."
"whaddoyawant?"
"look at this!"
...so there it was, a nineteenth century, solid brass fender, that was obviously commissioned for an extremely large fireplace. American made, albeit with the talents of Europeans that would only ever-after refer to themselves & their families as Americans, at least until recently.
well... what do ya do with it???

of coarse when i first saw it its overall luster was exactly like this:

(i will, if you are all nice, do a separate post on cleaning metals...)
"ENTER NYC GARBAGE.. HAND-HEWN KINGSIZE BEDFRAME" -
this is it already cut up..

found this on E18th., i think its alder with a lacquer that i'm not familiar with. every piece (even the slats), were hand stamped with tool marks so the frame would fit together properly...
AGAIN: hand-hewn
(somebody must've been naughty for this bed to be trashed!)
UPSIDEDOWN FENDER + UPSIDEDOWN BEDFRAME =

BENCH!!!
seen here assembled, awaiting its finish.
there was a lot of carpentry involved in this project, i even had to make my own mitre-box.
(i wish i had taken more fotos).
COMPLETED & IN PLACE

i'm sure i would have preferred a more natural finish and indeed the original lacquer i found very pleasing, however, a client is: "The Client".
the rust coloured mohair is lovely though...

this fireplace is totally functional; the chic just don't burn fires in NYC anymore, (except for perhaps one holiday fire).

art frenzy over, cocktail time...

This is the general impression upon entering this step-up master bath in Gramercy Park (proper)

We decided to use our collection of brass keys to do the riser face..
The full impression cannot be absorbed due to the quality of the Photo...
But the yellow of the brass against the red of the copper actually helps remind the user to step up...
Please, please- click to embiggerate...

Please don't clean them, or select them...
Or it will look contrived and not like the scales of an ancient koi of extraordinary stature...
All finished & clean, we are very pleased with the outcome, and we are our own most severe critic...

makes cents to some
too busy to fool with myself & trying to be wittyqueen at the same time...
so we're going to merge the designblog with this one
(at her majesty's leisure, you do understand)...
so here goes-
a floor of pennies:

the first thing that must happen is that the sub-floor must be perfectly smooth....
level-quick is spectacular-
the only thing missing in the directions:
be fully prepared before you mix; mixing and pouring should be a ballet of swiftness and deftness...
this is what it looks like if done properly, (notice the reflections)...

we had made the template earlier out of an old door slat; if you can't do the math or understand drilling holes, then email us and we will help.

the template having been removed, it is time to prepare the mesh. luckily, this drywall tape was exactly the right width (you don't want to have to trim around the whole flat: the ends are plenty annoying on their own). cut the mesh to over length (for ease of handling) spray tape with 3M adhesive and carefully place tape over pennies, cover with waxpaper and use a rolling pin and your hand to make sure each cent is set. it only takes about thirty seconds.... and with this project: WAXPAPER, WAXPAPER, WAXPAPER!

this is how it looks as i place it on a cookie sheet covered with WAXPAPER!

thinset ... quality only... smalltooth trowel...
don't try this on a non concrete floor without making friends with a tile guy or gal... or at least email me first. mmkay?

a little charcoal colored grout & buffing, then a little sealer....
and gramercy park will never be the same

what we did today
#1. we had the opportunity to engrave upon one soul to mind their own business..
#2. then we proceeded, impromtu, mind you, to plant lovely flowers around Whitestone....
(taking over the world to make it fabulous)...
#3. then reminded the "X" ---
#4. thought about what we want and who we are...
mother's work is never done...
