makes cents to some

too busy to fool with myself & trying to be wittyqueen at the same time...
so we're going to merge the designblog with this one
(at her majesty's leisure, you do understand)...
so here goes-
a floor of pennies:

the first thing that must happen is that the sub-floor must be perfectly smooth....
level-quick is spectacular-
the only thing missing in the directions:
be fully prepared before you mix; mixing and pouring should be a ballet of swiftness and deftness...
this is what it looks like if done properly, (notice the reflections)...

we had made the template earlier out of an old door slat; if you can't do the math or understand drilling holes, then email us and we will help.

the template having been removed, it is time to prepare the mesh. luckily, this drywall tape was exactly the right width (you don't want to have to trim around the whole flat: the ends are plenty annoying on their own). cut the mesh to over length (for ease of handling) spray tape with 3M adhesive and carefully place tape over pennies, cover with waxpaper and use a rolling pin and your hand to make sure each cent is set. it only takes about thirty seconds.... and with this project: WAXPAPER, WAXPAPER, WAXPAPER!

this is how it looks as i place it on a cookie sheet covered with WAXPAPER!

thinset ... quality only... smalltooth trowel...
don't try this on a non concrete floor without making friends with a tile guy or gal... or at least email me first. mmkay?

a little charcoal colored grout & buffing, then a little sealer....
and gramercy park will never be the same
