Manhattan Can Still Be Groovy......

Sometimes....

What a day...
We left the house today at a quarter to seven to drive to Gramercy to pick up some antiques for delivery on the Upper West Side.  Getting to Gramercy took sixty-five minutes, normally it would take about an half an hour & one time we made it in fifteen minutes, door to door (we cruise, never speed, obey laws).
This trip on the subway or the bus/subway combo takes an average of forty minutes, door to door. It really is not that far a distance.

Once there we loaded up the minivan and we were on our way.  We chose seventeenth street to get to the West Side Highway (lunatics take the Thru streets (two-way streets)), got the red light at Broadway, lit a cigarette & looked over and there saw the new chrome statue of Andy with his Bloomies bag filled with copies of Interview magazine that he would regularly pass out on that corner.

It was honestly touching, a very nice & real NYC treat....

You can read a little more about it at:
EXILE ON MOAN STREET

The delivery went well, the client was very pleased with the repairs and restorations, he tipped well too.
Nice Guy. We left there at nine-thirty and didn't get across the East River till ten-thirty, from whence we went directly to our next client's for a bout of heavy spring gardening, which actually was good for our psyche....

We don't know why, but this song kept playing in one of our heads while we were typing this...

  1. What a fabulous version of a fabulous song.

Traffic? I complain if it takes me more than thirty minutes to get all the way from one side of town to the other, but then, I live in a quiet little village by the sea.
