One For The Birds....
Thirteen and a half years ago when we realized that we would be living in NYC, our chief lament to ourselves was: "How can a barefoot scantly clothed Florida boy survive in a place that is dedicated only to humanity?". Becoming Grizzly Adams was by far a more palatable situation for us, sure, we spent a good portion of our lives in northern Ohio (which means beautiful, and it was, when it came to flora & fauna), but New York City???

That Live in The City, Against The Odds...
Yesterday we saw a very handsome Ring-Necked Pheasant walking over the Cross Island Parkway on the 160th. street bridge....
And that started us thinking that life will go on in spite of us monkeys.
The American Goldfinch seems to like to visit Queens in the late summer when the thistles are seeding .....
In about two more weeks the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird will be back, and they, being tired from their flight, actually perch here in the city, of which, we understand is a rare thing for a human to witness (We've lost count).....
Then there is the plump Red Tailed Hawk that lives in our neighborhood....
And sixty seconds after crossing the George Washington Bridge, immediate right onto the Palisades Parkway.....
Wild Turkeys in full regalia....
And who could forget the day that we heard that awe full scream of the Pileated Woodpecker, here in NYC???
Honestly, look at that face, don't you just want to do him?
Please understand...

Don't even get us started about the Whitestone parrots....
Cause they are the ones that give all the other birds the bird....
